Henry W. Coe State Park
Closure Notice (1/20/2023): Due to hazardous conditions, Henry W. Coe State Park is closed until further notice. Creeks are high with swift flowing water, trees may fall, and there are mudslides throughout the park causing unsafe conditions.
Please refer to the Henry W. Coe State Park page on California State Parks website for the latest news on park restrictions and closures.
The following trips start at Dowdy Ranch entrance. The entrance can be accessed May through Labor Day, weekends only, check hours of operation here.
Backpacking permit and parking fees required ($8 per car per night, $5 per person per night).
Potable water is available at the trailhead.
Weather
In summer, temperatures above 90 degrees between 11AM and 7:30-8PM are not unusual. Hike early in the morning and late in the evening. Plan shorter trips when necessary to prevent heat exhaustion.
