The Pine Ridge Association at
Henry W. Coe State Park
Closure Notice (1/20/2023): Due to hazardous conditions, Henry W. Coe State Park is closed until further notice. Creeks are high with swift flowing water, trees may fall, and there are mudslides throughout the park causing unsafe conditions.
Please refer to the Henry W. Coe State Park page on California State Parks website for the latest news on park restrictions and closures.
The following trips start at Hunting Hollow entrance. Backpacking permit and parking fees required ($6 per car per night, $5 per person per night). Hunting Hollow entrance is not staffed, self-register at the fee collection station in the parking lot.
The park is open year round, 7 days a week/24 hours.
There is no potable water at the Hunting Hollow trailhead.
Weather
In summer, temperatures above 90 degrees between 11AM and 7:30-8PM are not unusual. Hike early in the morning and late in the evening and plan shorter trips to prevent heat exhaustion if necessary.
In winter, expect cold nights - mid-30s or below.
In winter and spring, many creeks may be impassable after heavy rain.
