Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.

Is geocaching allowed at Henry Coe? Yes, in fact we encourage it.  It is a good way to get people out in the park and to see and experience it.  Is it allowed in other state parks?  It varies from park to park so check with the other parks web site to see what is allowed.  If you want to place a cache, please read the State Parks Guidelines. Please note that the guidelines can be different in each State Park.  Please do not put caches in the Orestimbra Wilderness.

There are 107 geocaching sites in Henry Coe State Park and the number is growing.  To learn more about geocaching go to geocaching.com.  There you will learn about geocaching and how to get started. It is free.  Once you are a member, you can search for sites in the park.  Visit the "Hide & Seek a Cache" page and enter the park’s address “9000 East Dunne Ave, Morgan Hill, CA” and you will see its sites.  The first one listed is right in the park’s parking lot.  It is called “Headquarters” and there is no reason to step off the parking lot pavement or cross any of the fences, dig through any plants, poke at any rocks, etc. Kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible. Bring a pen so you can register yourself.  And the main thing is to enjoy!
