Trail Conditions

Divider

On long hikes, be sure to take plenty of water.

On warm days, take more water than you think you'll need.

Consider recent weather conditions.

Don't rely on one observation about trail conditions.

Purify all backcountry water that you intend to consume. Even when purified, consume at your own risk.

Bury human waste and wash dishes at least 100 feet from streams, lakes, and springs.

Trail conditions are collected by park visitors and volunteers.

Dates are highlighted if information is more than 90 days old.

Check with park staff for the latest information. Map images linked here may be outdated. Information on obtaining a current map.

It is your responsibility to check the link above to see if trails are open to bicycles as there is not always someone available to do it for you.

Have an update on trail conditions for us?

Send an email with details to: trail-reports@coepark.net If including a photo/photo link please include a release statement if you'd like the photo to be posted here.

Trail usage; "H" = hiking, "B" = bicycling, "E" = equestrian, "V" = vehicular (does not mean public vehicle access but is indictative of width). PO = poison oak. BCW = Back Country Weekend.

HIkers must be prepared to bushwhack through chamise or take detours to make it through these obstacles. The cairn at the top is helpful in guiding hikers east along the ridgeline towards the signed descent to Pinto Creek. The 0.6 mile descent to Pinto Creek is heavily overgrown with chamise (and some poison oak in the lower reaches) and the trail is no longer visible, so going cross country (GPS or visual sighting of Pinto Creek Falls) is required. We would leave at least 1-1.5 hours to navigate this section of trail, as it is extremely steep and the thick chamise makes any attempt at cutting a path difficult. Fallen trees at the bottom partially block access to Pinto Creek Falls.  (Posted by Sue V702 as reported by Eric V708 and Harish V737)
